The Harry Potter Prequel is an 800-word story written by J. K. Rowling, and was published online on June 11th, 2008. Set three years before the birth of Harry Potter, the story recounts an adventure had by Sirius Black and James Potter. J.K. Rowling announced on May 28, 2008 that she was writing a prequel story for English PEN, the writers' association, and the Dyslexia Society. The story, handwritten on a card, would then be auctioned off alongside similar cards from other authors on June 11th, 2008, with the proceeds going to charity. A book of facsimiles was published in August 2008, allowing fans to own and read the story. As of 2009 the story is no longer officially available online. The story was one of three Harry Potter writing projects undertaken by Rowling after the publication of the final book, along with The Tales of Beedle the Bard and a yet-to-be-published Harry Potter Encyclopedia project.

Előre le kell szögeznem, hogy ez a kiegészítő kötet klasszisokkal jobb, mint az előző. Ezerszer jobb. Többet ad, mint amit elvárhatunk tőle: mikor kézbe vettem, csak Amberly és Marlee történetére számítottam, de sokkal többet kaptam. Vegyük szépen sorban:

• A királyné: ez a novella Clarkson Párválasztójáról szól, nagy vonalakban meséli el, hogy alakult ki a szerelem Maxon szülei között, és milyen érzésekkel kellett megküzdenie Amberlynek a Clarksonért folyó harcban. Szerettem ezt a történetet, mert egy kicsit jobban megérthetjük ezáltal a gyűlölt Clarkson királyt, és megláthatjuk, hogy honnan indult és miért vált olyanná, amilyen lett.
• A kedvenc: ez Marlee és Carter történetét meséli el, az első találkozástól egészen Maxon királlyá választásáig. Ez a történet tele volt aww-pillanatokkal, gyönyörű szerelmi vallomásokkal és bepillantást nyerhettünk a könyvből kimaradt jelenetbe, amikor Maxon gondoskodott Marlee és Carter sorsáról. Gyönyörű volt.
• Celeste jelenetei: nem titok, hogy nem igazán kedveltem Celeste-et az első két részben, de hát egy direkt negatív karaktert nehéz megkedvelni. Viszont ez a három kis fejezet elég jó megvilágításba helyezte a tetteit és a gyors "pálfordulását", nagyon kellett ez a megértéséhez.
• A szobalány: azzal sem árulok el nagy titkot, ha elmondom, hogy Aspen sosem volt a szívem csücske. De nagyon örülök, hogy végül rátalált a boldogság, és ebben a kis novellában meg is tudhatjuk, hogyan.
• Az igazi után: háát ezen eldobtam az agyam, annyira édes volt!! Végigvigyorogtam az egészet, nagyon tetszett.
• Mi van velük?: nos, bevallom őszintén, ez a három fejezet nekem teljesen érdektelen volt. A Párválasztó mezőnyének tagjai America, Marlee és Celeste kivételével teljesen hidegen hagytak, így nem is nagyon érdekel, hogy mi lett Natalie, Kriss és Elise sorsa.

Egy szó, mint száz, szerintem ez a kis kiegészítő kötet minden rajongónak kötelező olvasmány, mert nagyon sok pluszt ad, és újra beleszerettem a sorozatba. De mindenképp csak az Igazi után olvassátok, mert nagyon spoileres. :)
